Blue Aspirations' mission is to expedite the global adoption of renewable energy, leveraging our engineering and software development expertise to improve the efficiency of existing energy projects and mitigate the risks of new developments.
The company was founded to address a market need for floating LiDARs ("FLiDARs") that can be rapidly manufactured and deployed without sacrificing safety, quality, or availability. Our team comprises engineers, software developers, and senior industry professionals with extensive experience in wind energy and telecommunications, all of whom share a passion for sustainability and an ambition to tackle the next century's challenges.

Blue Aspirations was founded in 2019. In the last four years, we have deployed more than 30 floating LiDAR systems and finished our OWA Stage 2 verification in Dundee, Scotland. In the previous projects, our floating LiDAR has passed several Typhoon experiences with a maximum wave height of approximately 10 m and data availability excess of 99%.

Blue Aspirations' team has about 40 to 50 employees. The critical team members have decades of experience in the wind industry. 

Lifen Song is the founder and general manager of Blue Aspirations. With over 18 years of management and product development experience in telecommunications, power substation monitoring, wind turbine predictive maintenance, and floating LiDAR systems, he’s used his deep technical expertise to ensure Blue Aspirations’ products demonstrate reliability and robustness even in harsh conditions. He was formerly the Head of Quality at Kelin Power, where he was principally responsible for automating the testing of thousands of substation monitoring devices. He held several roles at Nokia Siemens Networks, including Scrum Master, Software Engineer, and Agile Coach. Lifen was also formerly the recipient of a bronze medal in the national-level Hope Cup math competition. As a programmer with a lifelong commitment to learning, he is pursuing a doctorate at Tsinghua University.

Barnabas is a co-founder of Blue Aspirations and brings his deep knowledge and experience to the role of CTO. Before founding Blue Aspirations, Barnabas worked at a tech company focused on product development and engineering services for the offshore wind industry. During his tenure with the company, he acted in various roles – including Hardware Engineer, System Engineer, Software Engineer, and Deputy Technical Director – and spearheaded the development of a safety-protecting controller for wind turbines. He also managed the development, optimization, and quality management of floating LiDAR systems and actively contributed to deployments in the Asia-Pacific region. Barnabas holds a B.E. in Automation and an M.Sc. in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.

Jianyu is a co-founder of Blue Aspirations and brings his knowledge in the design, manufacture, and operation of floating LiDARs. He managed Blue Aspirations’ campaigns from the beginning of manufacturing to deployment and operation, including ongoing coordination with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Before his work with Blue Aspirations, Jianyu spent nearly 10 years in mechanical design. He previously worked as the Mechanical Design Director for the design of a floating LiDAR System. From 2023, he turned his career to international business development to cater to the rapid development of the offshore wind industry worldwide. Jianyu holds a B.E. in Mechatronics from Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
